That's it???????????

You know it's coming. It's not written anywhere. You won't find it in any literature. But you know, once a month, without fail, it happens. Not just for one day. But every day......for five ...........sometimes six days.

No matter what you say it never seems to go away. It's uncomfortable. It's inconvenient. It's irritating.

You know what I'm talking about!!

It seems like every month there is this week that comes, when my nights are filled with those phonecalls. Surveys, telemarketers, and financial institutions.

I will be honest. I don't know the answer. Do we have a do not call registry in Canada? Does it apply to all kinds of phone calls or just telemarketers/surveys etc?

The ones from my primary bank, BMO are the most annoying because...well....it's like family. Just seems like they should know better.

I've been nice and said no thank you.

I've been nice and said 'I am not interested in these kinds of calls. no more please"

I've been irritated and said "is there a problem with my account or my Mastercard?" to which they say no

I've been honest and said "honestly, your number does not show up with a name and there's not a snowball's chance in hell that I would tell you any banking information as you can't prove you are who you say you are.

Tonight I d used all of them. SHE sounded irritated with me. sigh

So after I hung up, I called their help number and dutifully waited for the muzak to stop and a real voice to come on the line. I was very soft spoken and very polite and said that I appreciated knowing they would call if there was a problem, but after five phone calls in five days this week, I wanted to be removed from the run of the mill customer service phoning list.

He asked to verify my phone number and first name. He maden a few clickity clicks and voila. It was done.

Amazing. simply amazing.

we do have a Do Not Call Registry though...

What it doesn't apply to is banks that you already deal with though since you've given permission for them to call you.

And those are the ones that call us. ARGH! SO irritating.

Good job, Jolie. I'm glad you used your nice voice!

I feel your pain! I also did this and now only get calls when there is something new they can offer me to enhance something I already have. And only one in a month.

Good for you for calling back and getting this done for yourself1
