I love my job. I love my school, my class and my colleagues. I couldn't pick a better, healthier school environment if I tried. For those though, who think that working in a school is a 9 to 3:30 M to F job with a stack of books with answer keys in the back, I would gently suggest that reality is as authentic as the reality of Jersey Shore :-)
Having a crazy busy weekend at home means I did not get to the school. I need at least ( AT LEAST) 2 hours on a weekend to get ready for a normal week. There is correcting to do. There is prep work to do with the ever changing curriculum handed down by the government. There is planning for the special events. I teach a transition year so I have been busy with the tests and meetings that go with moving my students on to a High School in the fall.
No work at school on weekend makes Jolie behind. very behind. Behind at work. Behind at home. Behind on budget and behind on shopping for groceries and menu planning.
If anyone has invented a 'pause the world' remote so I can click it and catch up, I would love to try it out :-)
I know all of you, in your diverse jobs and homelives, feel this way too from time to time.
Deep breaths, Jolie, prioritize what needs to be done and use your time well.
Tuesday, Nice weekend!

Jolie, come and visit me! You'll have some down time! ( I hear you about the planning for work part!)
I grew up with a mother as a teacher, I know how busy you are, but what an important job you have! Summer will be here before you know it and maybe you will get a little break. I too am soooooo busy.
I hear you! Today I had a supply teacher come in for me as I went for Behavior Management Systems training which is a priority in my line of work - I have a few students who can get aggressive from time to time. The days that "nothing happened" are the good days. But fortunately, like you, I have the best staff to work with - having a laugh with staff is the best remedy to a "busy day":)
I completely understand. ALthough I try not to take work home with me, I will do it if it needs to be done. I can also relate to the whole working with kids part. People seem to think I'm just an overpaid babysitter and I always have to argue!
wow. you're so busy lately. try to take this long weekend to decompress and catch up!
