sigh
so tonight my older son and I were mowing my sister's lawn. It's an older home and there is an old water pipe that sticks out in the middle of the lawn about six inches high. I had just nicely said be careful of it and he was and suddenly wham it was under the mower. It chopped the flat iron head off the pipe but what was worse, it bent the blade and the crankshaft of the motor. the motor case is cracked which pretty much means the mower is DOA. This was a nice new power motor my husband had just finished paying for it a few months ago.
It looks as though the CC will take a $600ish hit to replace it if we buy the same mower again.

That really, really stinks! Could you just buy a cheap mower for now (maybe $100-150) and then get a better one after you take care of some of your debt/savings?? We bought a low-end model when we moved into our home 7ish years ago and we are still using the same one today. Granted our lawn is not very large.
Husband wishes to have the same quality mower he worked to pay off and I can't really blame him for that. We are seeing first if the crank is all that is damaged and if so, how much to replace that part. We shall see :-)
