I got my statement for the end of 2018 for my RRSP portfolio. It was sitting at $15 814 previously in 2018.
Not impressed at the new number of $14 262. That's a drop of over $1500. It's lower than it was this time last year.
I feel like I am saving for nothing.
This does not include the $1500 that I just added for 2018 at the start of 2019.
Most frustrating.

I can't remember where I saw it, but one blogger said (and definitely not a direct quote, but): look at how many shares you have this year vs. last year. It should definitely be higher with your new contributions. You are now buying on sale, and as long as you have more shares than before you are better off. This way, as the prices rebound (and they will! as long as you're diversified), each little share will do that much more work for you. You are building your army of workerbees, and you are getting them on discount! You are not pulling from these accounts/relying on them to pay bills yet; you still have time. Hang in there, it will come back!
I do not how an RRSP works but I guess your portfolio includes stocks too and in the long run you will profit from your investments. I would not be upset over short-term movements.
Keep on shaking the money tree!
I know it makes me sick when I look at mine.
Hopefully that's a momentary glitch and the numbers will climb once again. The stock market has been a bit jittery lately but I firmly believe that is short term.
