Where the money stands

as of March 6, 2012

Debts
Mortgage - $31 615.29
Vehicle Loan - $3935
LOC - $3700

Total Debt - $39 250.29

Savings/Planned spending
TFSA (EF) -  $2000
RRSP - $4000
RESP - $9750
Summer 2012 - $1000

DSs trip - $1200

Thoughts:
  •  I did squat on the savings/planned spending this month, but I knew that going in. Still, it bugs me to no end that I didn't magically accomplish something :-)
  • I made some progress on the vehicle loan though not as much as I would have liked. I kept some money aside to cover unexpected expenses this month and things that might come up for DSs trip. He needs a money pouch, a european adapter and a few other things, which I need to check on the list to see. He leaves in just over a month.
  • I was hoping my vehicle loan would show in the 90% paid off, but it's not there yet. funny how I just want to SEE that number.
Best part: I am FINALLY under $40 000 total money owing.  It's great to see it hit a new decade. I approach this with trepidation as I see big expenses continuing to come our way as the boys get to the end of high school and approach post secondary.

Great progress! You'll soon hit that 90% on the loan.

I know it feels nice to take in the belt another notch....kudos.

$31K left on a mortgage is awesome!

And kids just get more expen$ive once they leave high school. You might want to consider alcohol at that point...lol

Looks good Jolie! Way to go on almost getting the car payment done! What will you use the freed up money for? I have a money pouch I have never used...are they expensive to buy? If not, I can pop this one in the mail for you. Its pretty flat and it would be there by next week.

I hate it when I don't magically save $$ too! It's so frustrating!! ;)

Yes!! I love it when that happens...$39,000 just FEELS so much less than $40,000! You certainly do have some expensive years ahead of you BUT you are already planning for them!
