Perhaps I should become a hoarder or extreme couponer

With all the skimming I have  been doing from one budget line and another to take care of the unexpected computer expenses, my 'buying one or two ahead' of some products went the wayside.

Where does this leave me? with my household and personal products ganging up on me and all being empty within the same week.

I am not talking one or two items, but a whole gang of them. shampoo and conditioner. dishsoap. laundry soap. toiletbowl cleaner, kleenex and toilet paper. my foundation. ketchup. the bread stash.  all my pasta. the boys' cereal.

You sure feel the pinch when you are trying to find money for the everyday stuff as well as for the items which have run out.

It felt like everytime I turned around, another product was waving it's empty shell in front of me and taunting me with its 'I'm empty!!!' tirade.

Note to self: don't let this happen again.

I hear 'ya. It has been tough this month for us as well. Another child coming down - um, I need toothpaste and deodorant and shampoo, and while you are there, can I get some more flossers? $20 - cha-ching! Good night, a little heads up would be nice! Let me know when you figure that one out.

Dollar store here you go. I can get a lot of cleaning and personal products there rally cheap. I don't use products that are not a brand I recognize. Go there first and have an extra of everything under the bathroom sink. This will pay off in the long run because every time you go to a store you will be tempted to spend money. Good Luck!

I hate it when that happens too! We're forever running out of toothpaste, shampoo, etc... Should work on finding some sales & stocking up!!

I too get all envious when I watch Extreme Couponing and see all of those people's apparent never ending supply of stuff. How wonderful it would be to go down to the basement and bring up a bag of groceries and supplies like you had just come from the store only you picked out all of the stuff for free!

I'm with you!!! I just saw in my budget that I will have an open $100 & guess what... I need laundry detergent, fab softener, toilet paper, paper towels.... there goes that extra $ ;) atleast I have the $ to pay for that stuff without it coming out of the other 'budget' lines!!

I understand completely. When you reach the end of the toilet paper, rice, cereal and laundry detergent the same week. Mother Hubbards cuppards!

Jolie, I'm laughing at your post as I've just went through this with the shopping I had to do today. Things are so much more expensive...I'm going to have to start moving budget items around to make up for the gas and food prices.

I think that's part and parcel of a teacher's life too in the last month of school. Nothing is ever easy in June, you don't get ANY breaks! However, on the plus side the days go by lickety split in June - only 2 more weeks to go!

Thanks everyone. It's good to know I am not alone. I am looking forward to a bit of downtime to clean and sort out my house, examine the budget and come up with a plan to restock.

*chuckle* I am not going to easily forget this imagery: "another product was waving it's empty shell." happens too quickly!
